Environmental Auditing

Environmental Auditing is a management tool comprising of a systematic, documented; periodic and objective evaluation of how well the environment management systems are performing with the aim of waste prevention and reduction, assessing compliance with regulations, facilitating control of environmental practices by company’s management, and placing environmental information in the public domain.

Environmental Audits are carried out under the local and international guidelines.

Environment Risk register is a tool, to identify risks associated with the project and documented in line risk management – Principles and guidelines. Risk and risk mitigation strategies are outlined in Environmental Risk Register. The register provides a long term master plan for the future use and sustainable development. It helps to identify, categorize and control the risks.

The outcome of this process is the development of a risk register which helps a service to establish a direction for managing its risks. The risk register consequently provides managers with a high level overview of the services’ risk status at a particular point in time and becomes a dynamic tool for the monitoring of actions to be taken to mitigate risk.

This document will be developed primarily to provide operational Service Areas with guidance in relation to the development of their first risk registers and applies to all operational service areas.
